Combining Low-Slope Roofing & Deck Construction
This project required two different exterior systems to work together: an EPDM rubber roof protecting the low-slope area below and a new wood deck constructed above it. The work included preparation of the roofing surface, EPDM membrane installation, structural deck framing, deck boards, and wood railings.

A rubber roofing membrane was installed across the low-slope roof area beneath the deck structure.

Installing the EPDM Roofing System
Work began at the low-slope roof area beneath the future deck. The surface was prepared and an EPDM membrane installed to create a continuous roofing layer, with careful attention to edges, transitions, and adjoining exterior surfaces.
Building the Elevated Deck Frame
Once the low-slope roofing work was established, new wood framing created the structure and layout for the elevated deck above. The joists and perimeter framing formed the supporting system for the deck surface.
Completing the Elevated Outdoor Space
With the framing in place, wood deck boards established the walking surface while perimeter posts, rails, and balusters completed the enclosure and defined the waterfront outdoor space.
A Coordinated Roofing and Exterior Carpentry Result
The completed project brings together a protected low-slope roof and an elevated wood deck constructed above it. The finished exterior provides a defined outdoor space while keeping the roofing and carpentry systems coordinated as part of one build.
