Combining Low-Slope Roofing & Deck Construction
This project required two different exterior systems to work together: an EPDM rubber roof protecting the low-slope area below and a new wood deck constructed above it. The work included preparation of the roofing surface, EPDM membrane installation, structural deck framing, deck boards, and wood railings.

Protecting the Low-Slope Roof Below
Before the deck could take shape above, the low-slope roof required a roofing system suited to the structure. EPDM rubber roofing provides a continuous membrane across low-slope areas, with careful detailing required around edges, transitions, and adjoining exterior surfaces.

Construction Process

Once the low-slope roofing work was established, the project progressed into exterior carpentry. The construction photos show the transition from the protected roof area to the new wood framing that would support the deck surface above.
